Bicycle route with nostalgia and nature.
On this bicycle tour, you will depart from Zaandam. Zaandam is no ordinary city. It consists of two dikes on the east and west side of the Zaan. You cycle past old and new warehouses, past small old houses but also new housing estates and you experience how in history Zaandam has grown. And then you ride past Oostzaan into nature. The Twiske is a nature and recreation area. The Stooterplas is part of it. And with a depth of 30 meters and a bottom of sand, the water is exceptionally clear. A water with meadows around it where many animals can be found. The bittern, the shoveler and the wigeon can be found there but on dry land foxes and ermines also walk around and birds of prey like the hawk and the buzzard fly around. After the busy built-up area, you can relax in nature. The beautiful vistas can take your breath away. Back near Zaandam, you will drive through the Zaanse Schans. A neighborhood that was created in the early 60s and which takes you back in time. And arriving at the museum store, you can reminisce about the nostalgia and nature.
