Route across the Veluwe that takes you past three castles.
The oldest signs of inhabitants in this area are those of the burial mounds and so-called celtic fields. These are prehistoric square fields surrounded by earthen walls. There is an entire complex of about 76 acres of these fields near Vaassen. They date back to the Iron Age. The inhabitants were Germanic farmers and lived there before Roman times. Later, in the Middle Ages, castles were built for the wealthy. These riches are reflected in this bicycle route. You will cycle past Cannenburch Castle, Staverden Castle and Het loo Palace. All castles can be visited so the choice is yours. Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful landscape that the Veluwe shows you. From forests to heathland and beautiful vistas, you will get to see it all.
