A trip between the Lower Rhine and De Waal.
From the village of Zetten, the bicycle route enters the beautiful province of Gelderland. Zetten is mentioned in a charter as early as 1005. During the flood of 1800 the entire Betuwe was flooded. Much was destroyed as a result. By land area, Gelderland is the largest province of the Netherlands. You can enjoy the most beautiful views. These are sometimes interrupted by fruit trees or grazing cows. You drive along the small river De Linge to see the shipping on the Nederrijn passing by at Heteren. Really big ships can be seen as you cycle along the dikes of De Waal. You can quietly dismount and sit on one of small beaches. There is no more expansive view than here.
