From Delft to Delfshaven and back

A bike ride full of historic turn-off points.

Delfshaven originated in 1389, when the Delfshavense Schie was dug to give the city of Delft a connection to the Meuse River.
Around the lock, the harbor town of Delfshaven arose. It was called a colony of Delft. In the early 16th century, Delfshaven had just over 100 houses and 400 inhabitants.
In 1960, Historic Delfshaven was declared a protected cityscape.
Both Delft and Delfshaven have several monuments to visit.
You also get a piece of Rotterdam Harbour and Maas.
As a bonus you will also pass the nature reserve De Ackerdijkse Plassen.
