A hefty route through the coulisse countryside of Overijssel.
A hefty route through the Twente countryside with Daarlerveen as its starting point. This is a village in northwest Twente. Twente is a region in Overijssel with a small-scale coulisse landscape, important nature reserves and many green estates. If Twente people used to be seen as closed and peculiar, today Twente is associated with sociability, and a region where peace and quiet prevail. Along the Zwolsekanaal it goes through the green landscape of Twente. Between Nijverdal and Wierden you cycle along the Wierdense Veld nature reserve. Many rare birds are found here. However, the landscape suffers greatly from desiccation and consequently overgrowth. In the future, drastic measures will be taken to create more wetlands, which will make new raised bogs possible. You also cycle through the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. Especially in late August, the purple heather in bloom is a special sight. Along the Overijsselsch Kanaal the route goes back to Daarlerveen. You will have a beautiful impression of the Twente landscape.
