The western part of the Hoogeland, the region above the Reitdiep. One of the oldest cultural landscapes of the Netherlands, because 600 years before Christ the first inhabitants already settled in this coastal area. To keep their feet dry, wierden were raised and still the historic churches stand on the highest point. Beautiful views and friendly villages alternate. The fertile clay soil still attracts new residents, because a vegetable garden, that will do well here!
