Cycling in Lisse
Lisse sits in the middle of the bulb region, and in spring that is the most photographed landscape in the Netherlands. Outside the flowering season the cycling is just as good: the strip is narrow, and within ten kilometres you go from fields to dunes to water.
Eight routes run through Lisse. The one that crosses the bulb region has nineteen junctions in the immediate area, a dense network you can join and leave easily. Others head west into the dunes and along the coast at Noordwijk, Katwijk and Zandvoort. East lies the water: the Kaag lakes, the meres around Kaag itself, and beyond them the Haarlemmermeer polder. One route continues into the centre of Leiden.
Along the way you pass Noordwijkerhout, Sassenheim, Voorhout, Warmond, De Zilk, Vogelenzang, Buitenkaag and Halfweg. Lengths run from 35 to 57 kilometres.
Start at junctions 09, 10, 29, 41, 44 to 48 and 91. TOP Lisse is a tourist transfer point, and Restaurant De Vier Seizoenen is on the way.
